 Ready to launch
GPS Boomerang develops and manufactures unmanned
aircraft primarily for
the meteorological and atmospheric research markets. The aircrafts are
light-weight mini-gliders, designed to carry a payload, such as a
radio-sonde, and launched via a weather-balloon. Upon release from the
balloon, the GPS based
guidance system flies it back to the launch site or an alternative
landing location.
The DataBird is the flagship of its range,
enabling users to recover their weather-balloon
instrumentation and data easily and reliably. Typical applications
in which the employment of the Databird will achieve major benefits includes:
- Returning custom-made equipment. Researchers can recover prototype sensors or circuits rather than face recurring
investments in time and costs of calibration and/or replacement of such
equipment.
- Returning
expensive equipment. The DataBird enables research organisations to launch expensive monitoring equipment with confidence of getting it back.
- Collection
of large volumes of data. Large amounts of data can now be collected with the DataBird without the need for live transmission.
- Increased atmospheric sampling. The recovery of your instrumentation when carried by the DataBird allows more launches on the same budget.
